30 October: a free 4-question steps check

From 30 October 2026, employers can be liable for harassment of their staff by customers and other third parties, related to things like sex, race, disability, religion or age, unless they took all reasonable steps to prevent it. Employers must also take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment.

The duty is about steps. Pick your business, answer four yes or no questions, and see which of four practical steps you already have. No email needed.

Not legal advice.

What kind of business do you run?
Do you have a notice up that tells customers how staff should be treated?
Have your staff had a short briefing on what to do?
Do you keep a record of what happens?
Have you put a review date in your diary for 12 months' time?
